Do we actually need a Thai company, or can we sell through a distributor first?
You can start selling through a Thai distributor or marketplace operator without registering a local entity. Many brands validate their category this way before committing to a BOI company or FBL structure. We help you decide which path makes sense for your volume, control needs, and tax situation — and we manage the transition if you decide to formalize.
The 51% Thai ownership rule makes us nervous. How do you handle it?
Legitimate options exist. BOI-promoted companies in qualifying sectors (tech, manufacturing, logistics, certain services) allow 100% foreign ownership with tax incentives. Outside BOI, we structure distributor agreements and JVs that give you operational control even with minority equity. We vet Thai partners by financial track record and prior business dealings — not just referrals.
How long does it actually take? We've heard 12–18 months.
12–18 months is the cost of going in without a local operator who knows the process. Our clients typically soft-launch within 4–6 months. Regulated categories (cosmetics, supplements, food, fintech) add 2–4 months for FDA or BOI approval, which we initiate in parallel from day one rather than sequentially.
We've never heard of LINE OA or PromptPay. How important are they really?
Critical. Over 90% of Thai consumers use LINE as their primary messaging app — they expect to contact and follow brands there. PromptPay is the default payment method for purchases under 3,000 baht. If your brand is only on WhatsApp or only accepts credit cards, you lose a significant portion of Thai buyers before they reach checkout. We set both up and manage them as part of every launch.
